The Early Years
Our founder, Pat McKenna, built Taste of Italy from the ground up in the year 2000 but its roots were planted in his early childhood. While sitting in his grandmother’s kitchen as a young boy, Pat absorbed all of the aromas and flavors of her good Italian comfort food and learned how to cook. His grandmother taught him all about fresh ingredients and why the best ingredients mixed with a little patience make all the difference in the taste. Pat developed a love of cooking and a passion for really good Italian food. He knew one day that he would combine his talent for cooking and passion for food into a business.
The Pizza Den
In 1982 Pat opened up his first Pizza Shop, “The Pizza Den” in Marlton, NJ at the age of just 22 and the making of an entrepreneur had begun. Word spread-fast about The Pizza Den and locals were lining up to get a table and experience his incredible Italian comfort food. Pat tripled his business at the Pizza Den in just a few years and claims that his secret to success was all of the recipes passed down through generations of his family in Italy.
The In-Between Years
After a few years, Pat sold The Pizza Den and began pursing larger manufacturing projects. He developed several lines of Italian Food products and partnered with different manufacturing companies for production. During this period of time, Pat perfected his selling skills and built thousands of industry relationships that have served as the backbone of Taste of Italy’s success.
Taste of Italy MFG
Pat opened Taste of Italy MFG 17 years ago with a business partner. With his sales and marketing team in place, Pat wanted to control more of the manufacturing process so he could get a better product out to his customers. After 12 years, Pat bought out his business partner and has steadily grown Taste of Italy MFG year after year. In 2016, Pat moved the entire operation to a beautifully renovated manufacturing facility with ample office space for his growing team in Egg Harbor City, NJ.
